Not On The Timeline is for women over 40 whose lives haven’t followed the expected path. Maybe you’re single. Maybe you’ve never married. Maybe you don’t have children. Perhaps that was a choice, perhaps it wasn’t, or perhaps the truth is much more complicated than either answer. Whatever brought you here, life outside the usual timeline can be a complicated place to find yourself.
When so much of adulthood is measured through familiar milestones like relationships, marriage, children and family life, it can feel as though everyone else is moving forward while you’re standing still. But what if progress doesn’t have to look the same for everyone? Not On The Timeline is about the life that exists outside that conventional roadmap, and what we choose to build next.
We talk about friendship and what happens when the people closest to us move into very different lives. We talk about the practical realities of supporting yourself, building a home and a future on your own terms, careers and starting again, independence, relationships, and the questions that come with creating a life that may look different from the one you once imagined.
There are personal stories about the things we don’t always say out loud, alongside practical articles and properly researched guides about the things we actually need to know.
What you won’t find is an assumption that being single is a problem waiting to be solved by finding a partner. This isn’t a dating site. It isn’t anti-relationship, anti-marriage or anti-children either. A relationship may be part of your future, or it may not be. Your life doesn’t have to wait for the answer.
Living outside the expected timeline can be freeing. It can also be lonely, expensive, confusing, exciting and occasionally make you wonder whether everyone else received an instruction manual you somehow missed.
